[EDIT: Sep 2017] Pact App has discontinued as of mid-July 2017. No more rewards for working out 🙁 . Also, Wellcoin was buggy for me since Jan 2017, so I have NO IDEA if the app is still active. I couldn’t reset my password on both the app and desktop site.

In summary, you wager $5 for each activity you will complete, whether it’s gym or fruit/veggie. If will earn $ for the promises you keep and lose $5 for each promise you break. Ex: if you promise to do gym 5x and veggie 5x, but you only did gym 4x, you will owe $5.
In summary, you log all your wellness activities, from sleep to food to exercise to buying groceries, etc. Each activity belongs to one of the five categories. Each category has a max # of wellcoins you can earn each day. You redeem wellcoins in the marketplace (granola bars, fitness classes, retail discounts, etc) and get entered automatically into weekly and monthly raffles for Amazon/Target giftcards.

What is this?
So if you need some REAL motivation to get your butt to your gym and eat better, then this is the app for you. You make a Pact with this app (and really, yourself) to do X amount of fitness activities and/or eat X amount of healthy things.
How does it work?
You wager each activity for a dollar amount. $5 is the lowest you can wager. This is how much you will need to pay Pact for each activity you could not finish. To complete your sign up, you will need to enter your credit card information.
I would suggest starting small, like 1 workout and 5 fruits/veggies. Why? Because you will need to get into the habit of recording the activity before you actually do it (take photo of food or connect to WiFi and GPS to check in to gym). Once you got into the hang of it, amp up your activities and get $$ for it.
How much $ do you really get?
This depends on how many activities you promise to complete. Each fitness activity ranges from $0.20 to $0.26. Each fruit/veggie activity ranges from $0.05 to $0.09. My Pacts are now 5 fitness activities and 20 fruit/veggies.
I have been using Pact for about a year now and have logged 1,114 activities, earning a total of $126.09. This gives me about $2.75 a week. This does not sound like much, but getting paid to do things I already do is just awesome. You don’t get paid until your account reaches $10 to send over to your PayPal. That’s a Lululemon top right there or a whole bunch of coconut waters 🙂
What is this?

How does it work?
You “log activities” that are predetermined by Wellcoin as wellness activities, such as “Choosing a Healthy Drink” or “Weigh In” (see complete list at the bottom). You verify the submissions in the “Community”. After you accumulated enough points, you can redeem for rewards from their partners in “Marketplace” such as Reebok 20% off, Dick’s Sporting Goods $10 gift card, Whole Foods Market $10 gift card, Juice from the Raw, yoga classes, etc. The selection isn’t incredibly large and you can only redeem each item once.
How much $ do you really get?
I have been using Wellcoin for 1.5 days and have already received 790 wellcoins, which is 39.5% of the way towards the $10 WholeFoods gift card worth 2,000 wellcoins.
[[ EDIT 1/21/2016 ]] I have been using Wellcoin less actively since January. Since it syncs with my Fitbit, it automatically logs steps (sometimes it doesn’t) and 7+ hours of sleep. I have redeemed $50 Whole Foods Market gift cards with some pending (18,000 wellcoins), water (1,200 wellcoins), cookies/snacks (2,000 wellcoins), protein powder samples (1,000), discount on a smoothie subscription (10,000 ?), and won a weekly contest/giveaway for a $10 Amazon giftcard, with 25,000 wellcoins left (and no products I want to redeem for).
If you break how long it will take you to redeem anything if you just log the same ONE activity over and over again:
- 34 days of 10,000 steps to get 340,000 steps (5 wellcoins per 1,000 steps) and perfect verifications rated 5/5 (2 wellcoins each). Total: 2,040 wellcoins.
- 34 days of healthy breakfasts (20 wellcoins each) and perfect verifications rated 5/5 (8 wellcoins each). Total: 2,040 wellcoins.
- 1,000 community votes (2 wellcoins each). If you only verify ONE submission a day. One a normal day, I verify about 5 submissions, so that is 10 wellcoins, meaning it will take me 200 days to redeem
- 134 days of healthy drinks (5 wellcoins each) and perfect verifications rated 5/5 (2 wellcoins each). If you drink ONE glass of water a day. This should be easy peasy.
- 12 months if you see your wellness professional monthly. This is a whopping 180 wellcoins each! I am a HUGE fan of the chiropracter and feel like I lost out on so many wellcoins! Total: 2,160 wellcoins.
There are also activity caps for each day by category:
- Get Moving 60
- Eat Well 70
- Feel Good 30
- Tune Up 180
- Give Back 180
And each month:
- See a health professional 180
Obviously, the goal is to combine all these activities together so you can redeem your healthy rewards. Since you’re doing all these things ANYWAY to be wellthy, why not just log it and accumulate more rewards? There is no consequences for failing to do any activity (like Pact).
